Job Description:

  • Set the medium- to long-term strategic direction and operating plans for the Safety and Industrial Business Group.
  • Direct and implement EHS programs covering health and safety assurance, air/land/water protection, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, fire protection, and related areas.
  • Lead a multifunctional team of EHS professionals developing and implementing strategic initiatives to reduce incidents, improve compliance, and create efficiency.
  • Implement organizational strategy aligned with corporate strategy and standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and communication across the business group and corporate structure.
  • Support operations, product stewardship, plant engineering, and other functions to prevent incidents and ensure regulatory and 3M standards compliance.
  • Develop health, safety, and environment business strategies with business leaders.
  • Engage sites to identify and reduce risk according to 3M policies and procedures.
  • Adjust EHS strategies to changing market and production conditions for distribution facilities.
  • Implement EHS standards and define guidelines for security, health and safety assurance, pollutants, and related areas.
  • Coach functional leaders, external business partners, and the community on EHS data and methodologies.
  • Ensure site equipment and processes meet 3M and governmental EHS legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • Protect employees and company assets by eliminating injuries, property damage, and adverse environmental impact.
  • Define an effective resolution system for timely response to EHS issues.
  • Promote EHS best practices and build an EHS culture within the organization.
  • Serve as liaison between 3M, governmental agencies, and the local community.
  • Communicate with managers, functional leaders, area/business leaders, direct subordinates, and external clients.
  • Negotiate, counsel, persuade stakeholders, participate in corporate initiatives, and comply with professional, quality, and corporate standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or higher, completed and verified prior to start
  • Fifteen (15) years of EHS technical practice and leadership experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
  • Eight (8) years of manufacturing experience
  • Current, valid Driver’s License
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status
  • Master’s degree in EHS and/or Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Leadership and supervisory skills for managing people
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Effective communication, performance appraisal, performance management, hiring and interviewing, documentation, interpersonal, coaching, change management, conflict resolution, delegation, goal setting, motivation, emotional intelligence, and strategic planning skills
  • Ability to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally
