Amazon’s Mission to become Earth’s safest place to work calls for a Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager to drive safety excellence across our operations. The WHS Manager will champion safety across the site, leading the Global WHS Program implementation while aligning safety initiatives with operational goals. The role combines hands‑on safety management with strategic thinking to protect the most valuable asset – our people.

Core Impact Areas

• Safety Leadership & Innovation – Transform safety culture, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and use technology and data analytics to implement preventive safety measures.
• Strategic Partnership & Influence – Work with Operations leadership to integrate safety into all business aspects, influence decision‑making, oversee record‑keeping, workplace organization, and WHS training programs.

Additional Job Elements

• Travel 50–70% of the time and work various shifts.
• Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
• Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
• Work in variable noise, temperature, and weather conditions (outside loading departments).
• Climb and descend stairs (for sites with stairs).
  Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.
• Must obtain adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification within 3 weeks of start date if not already held.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
• 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in WHS and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
• 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management, or 2+ years of Amazon Safety (blue badge/FTE) experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS experience with a mix of exempt and non‑exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people.
• Master’s degree.
• Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
• Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization.
• Certified Safety Professional.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site leaders.
• Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
• Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem‑solving ability.

Salary & Benefits

Base salary range: $63,000–$94,600 USD annually (USA, AZ, Flagstaff; USA, AZ, Prescott Valley; USA, AZ, Sierra Vista). The Amazon package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
